While our website is under construction, here is some information about our services. We hope that this will help you to make an informed decision about hiring a proofreader. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at info@poofreader.com.
Your written communications say everything about your business. Often, the first impression a potential customer gets of your business is through something you have written—an advertisement, press release, maybe your website. Imperfections in written copy can give your customers a poor impression of your business—and that copy can last a long time! Isn't your business worth the small investment to make sure your copy is as good as it can be?
Well, we will—and if we do, you can bet that your customers will too.
Everything we perceive about the world, including what we see—and therefore what we read—is an illusion our brain creates for us. Our brains are very good at filling in holes in what we see, so we tend to see what we expect. Taht's why tihs tcrik wtih rarernaged lteters is sltil radeabel by most people. Mistakes are easy to overlook, especially when reading your own writing. Spellcheck and grammar check may be helpful, but many common errors will get through. Misusing "their" or "there" for "they're" is a good example.
Besides, proofreading is tedious, time-consuming work. Is that the best use of your time, or would it be better suited to someone else?
Because we are very, very good at this. Our satisfied customers range from small startup businesses to nationally-distributed magazines.
And our rates aren't bad.
(If that isn't enough, we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.)
Our rate schedule is based on a charge of one cent per word, and runs as follows:
Have a large number of small-word-count documents? Contact Us and we'll work out an appropriate rate.
An hourly rate may be a fine way to pay someone to, say, work a cash register for a set number of hours. When it comes to making sure your documents are perfect, however, we feel that there are two things that you need to be concerned about -
We don't want you to worry about how many hours we spend on your project. You will know up front how much the project will cost, and we will deliver your project on time and completed correctly.
Most word-processing software will provide a word count. If you don't have a word count before sending us a project, we'll provide one before starting work.
Simple. After contacting us for a quote, you send us the documents to be proofread—either electronically, by fax, or by sending hard copy by mail or messenger. We will expertly proofread your documents and return them by the agreed-upon due date. Changes will be tracked in Word, Pages (Mac), or PDF format, or handwritten on hard copy.
Need it in another format? Ask us!
After you receive your finished project, you may review the changes and accept some or all of them. This is usually as simple as clicking "accept changes" in the word-processing software. In many cases, we may offer some copy-editing suggestions, but the decision whether to make changes is entirely yours.
(The same goes for our proofreading—if you intended to misspell something, who are we to argue?)
